LODGING IN FLORENCE

LA PASTORELLA - HISTORY

La Pastorella is a villa which dates back to the 1300’s. In the 1400’s it was the country house of the prestigious Florentine family Riccialbani, who owned many properties in Via Dell’Anguillara.

Originally the villa was called "Il Monte", but around the year 1600, the property passed into the hands of the Giovannozzi family (sculptors from Settignano) and took on the name "La Pastorella" in honor of a statue that today is still housed inside the villa, the same statue for which the street is named.

In the 1700’s, the "Pastorella" was bought by the Gargiolli family, and today the property is owned by a descendant of this family.
